Rummy Rum Cake

1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup water
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup dark rum

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan. Sprinkle chopped nuts evenly over the bottom of the pan. In a large bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Mix in the eggs, 1/2 cup water, oil and 1/2 cup rum. Blend well. Pour batter over chopped nuts in the pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Let sit for 10 minutes in the pan. then turn out onto serving plate. Brush glaze over top and sides. Allow cake to absorb glaze and repeat until all glaze is used.

To make the glaze: in a saucepan, combine butter, 1/4 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat and continue to boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup rum.

Ginger Tea

Family Ginger Tea Recipe

Boil Water in Tea Kettle
(or boil 5 cups of water in pan and bring to a boil)
Put into boiling water 6 to 7 tea bags
Let stand for at least 5 mins
Add 2 cups of sugar
Stir until sugar is desolved
Refrigerate
Add 1 Cup of Gingerale

* Note gingerale will be stronger than the tea. Pour a little in at a time until you get your desired taste. Enjoy!

Lemon Pound Cake

3 cups sugar
1 lb of butter
11 eggs
3 1/2 cups of flour
2 tsp of lemon extract
1 tbsp of lemon juice

Preheat oven to 325. Mix sugar and butter adding eggs one at a time. Add flour mix well. Add lemon extract and lemon juice. Grease and flour pan. Bake for one hour and 20 mins.

Braised Chicken

Braised Chicken

1  4to5 lb roasting chicken
1  tablespoon seasoning salt
1  teaspoon black pepper
1/2 stick of butter
1  cup sliced carrots
1  cup sliced onions
1  can chicken broth
2 tbls of poultry seasoning

Preheat oven to 350. Wash and pat dry chicken. Place chicken in  a roasting pan. Rub chicken with butter inside and out. Sprinkle chicken with seasoning salt and poultry seasoning. Add vegetables and broth. Cover and cook for 1 hour.

Old Fashion Potato Salad

Old Fashion Potato Salad


4 Large Potatoes
4 Eggs
1 Celery Stalk (Diced)
1 Cup of Sweet Relish
1 1/2 Cup of Mayonnaise or more to taste
1 tbls of Mustard


Boil potatoes until med soft (do not overcook). Cook eggs in a separate pan until done. Dice the potatoes and eggs mix in the celery, relish, mayonnaise and mustard. Top with Paprika.
